Changing the conversation around conservation

Meet the Lost & Found team: Amy Gallagher

Amy Gallagher (also known as Amiluu) is a UK based freelance illustrator, greeting card designer, and comic artist. Her style is playful and charming; often using themes of humour and cheekiness to create engaging imagery. ¬Her other interests lie in food (and lots of it) Tove Jansson, fitness, animation and games. She loves her dog Finn.

What interested you in the Lost and Found project?

I’m an animal lover and comic artist, so when I was approached by Diogo to combine the two, I jumped at the chance! I loved the concept of using the medium of comics to shine a positive light on conservation and raising awareness of endangered species.

What is your favorite Lost & Found Story so far?

My favourite story is the rediscovery of the Fiji Petrel. The poor bird is sensitive to lights and during a storm it knocks into Dick Watling. It reminded me of the scene from A Bug’s Life, where a fly is drawn to a light and cries “I can’t help it! It’s so beautiful!” BZZT!

Who is your conservation hero?

Sir David Attenborough. I’ve grown up watching his documentaries, and still watch them to this day. He is like a grandfather to me.

What do you do when you are not working on Lost & Found?

If I’m not scribbling away on some illustrations or comics, or designing greeting cards, then I’m usually walking my dog Finn or going for a run. I’m an active person and don’t like to be cooped up inside for too long.

Bonus Question: What is your favourite animal?

This changes often! Hmm…Dog! No, Bear! Uhh… Maybe Dog.
